As a food reviewer of Restaurant World, I can confidently say that Hana Japanese Restaurant exceeds expectations in delivering exceptional Japanese cuisine with a focus on quality, authenticity, and customer satisfaction. From the warm welcome at the door to the last Sayonara, every moment at Hana is a culinary delight.
Hana has been on my list to try for years. The fish was fresh, the staff were friendly and they have a good sake selection. While the crème brûlée was delicious it hadn't set yet and was like eating soup. If you find yourself in the neighborhood give it a try.
Absolutely the best service and imported fish from Japan I have ever had. The Nigiri chef choice melt in your mouth with a lounge ambiance.
Always top quality and great service. From the minute you open their door the warm welcome is contagious all the way thru your meal till you say Sayonara !
Delicious food, warm and competent staff. It's always a treat to visit Hana. It's out favorite restaurant for treating out of town guests.
I came back to have the Sukiyaki. Totally worth the trip. I love how it's served over an open flame which I can shut off when my ribeye steak is cooked to my liking. Delicious broth. Tender beef. Big chunks of tofu. We arrived at 5pm and was able to catch Happy Hour. We tried: Chicken Karage: SOOOOO FLAVORFUL! This is not anything like chicken nuggets. The chicken meat was tender and had flavor. Sashimi Sampler: 5 chef's choice sashimi pieces: the leanest piece of blue fin tuna, a gorgeous slice of trout, 2 different kinds of mackerel, and sea bream. Every piece of fish was absolutely delicious. This place is most likely THE BEST Japanese restaurant in the Bay Area! Service was excellent! The restaurant has great atmosphere.
Enjoyed a fabulous meal at Hana's sushi bar a few weeks ago. I was pleasantly surprised by the helpful service provided before we even stepped foot in the door. I'd made an online reservation, noting that we were really hoping to come in around 15 minutes earlier and sit at the sushi bar (but those options weren't available online). I quickly received a call confirming our preferred arrival time and seats at the sushi bar. Awesome! The place is larger than one might anticipate from the outside, split into two main spaces with the host stand straddling the two. Sleek and simple design with a relatively small ~ let's call it intimate ~ sushi bar where we sat. My friend ordered a sake flight from their extensive and frankly impressive sake offerings. I opted for a good old fashioned Japanese beer. Sapporo, I think it was, since they didn't have my preferred Kirin. It was served icy cold. Perfect! We ordered a nice selection of dishes to share, including Chelsea Bay oysters from Washington State. Super fresh, briny and deliché! I was also very pleased that their Kama (grilled fish collar) of the Day was hamachi, which is my favorite. Yum! The tako poke was very tasty. Hamachi toro sashimi was incredible and the Yummy Roll was just that. Quite appropriately named. Really nice to return to Hana after many years since my first visit. Would not hesitate to come back whenever I'm in the neighborhood.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Hana Restaurant. It's a hidden gem that transported me to the heart of Japan. From the moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the ambiance and decor, which truly elevated the dining experience. The service was impeccable, with an attentive server who was knowledgeable about the dishes and answered all our questions The presentation of each dish was nice and appealing. Hana is a must visit for anyone seeking an authentic and exceptional Japanese dining experience. I can't wait to go back.
Looking forward to a terrific dinner. This was some of the best Japanese food that we've had in quite a while. Some places do Ramen well. Others have mastered Tempura. Then there are those who specialize in Sushi/Sashimi. Hana was spot on with every dish that we ordered. I forgot to take a picture of the Natto Roll that we ordered but she said it hit all the right notes. (I pass on that dish) We ordered a 1/2-dozen Ousters from the "Sake Hour" menu. They came with a dipping sauce but it really wasn't needed. A bit of lemon had already been squeezed on and that's all that I needed. I easily could have made a dinner out of a couple of dozen. Uni, Fresh Crab Legs and O-Toro are never items that we expect to receive on a Sashimi Omakase. But all three were present and all were served at the correct temperature. Not too cold and certainly not warm. The Mixed Tempura had a good variety of vegetables. Shiitake Mushroom, Okra, Snap Pea, and Cauliflower accompanied by other veg, Shrimp and Fish. And you can tell that these were not purchased separately frozen and then assembled. When that happens, the batters are different on each item. Everything here had the same batter. The Agedashi Tofu was spot on and the broth that accompanied it was perfection.
As a sushi and seafood lover, this is my favorite birthday celebration go to restaurant in Sonoma County! We reserved made reservations six weeks in advance on OpenTable--highly recommended! The ambience here is one of contemporary, understated elegance in line with Japanese tradition. In fact, the location of this restaurant is so low-key you might wonder if you're in the right place. Parking is ample and well lit. To your R is a sake lounge to relax in while waiting for the rest of your friends to arrive. Even the bathrooms are fascinating, with authentic Japanese bidet-style toilets that will wash you in areas you may not have considered. To your L is a well-equipped sushi bar with a few tables That also offers the option to belly up at the sushi bar to grab a quick bite. This area is generally recommended for families with small children. The menu, the sake, and the service is extraordinary! Most recently, I went with a friend who didn't think she liked sake until she was offered a few mouthfeels of an expertly intended sampling based on what types of wine she liked. (Yes, sake is actually a type of beer that doesn't taste like it). We bought a bottle and it was absolutely delicious! There is literally nothing on the menu that is not excellent. One of my favorites is the seared squid appetizer. It used to come with a delicious Ponzu sauce, but now comes with some weird mayonnaise sauce that actually seems inconsistent with everything else. You can ask for a different sauce. A meal here leans toward the pricey side, but is absolutely well worth it. There is also outdoor seating with heat lamps that is very cozy!
